Airport Seating System

People travel in groups 65% of the time for personal travel and 42% of the time for business travel. Why don’t existing airport seating systems reflect that? This is an airport seating system that allows people to be social by allowing to create little booths to facilitate conversation.

I did the industrial design for this project as part of my fourth year thesis project at the Carleton School of Industrial Design. I was part of a team, the Airside Accessible Comfort group, where each of us concentrated on a different part of the airport waiting area. We shared the research, and project brief portions of the project, but branched off for the concept development, testing and final design of our pieces.
