It is interesting how wedding invitation designs can vary wildly in style but be equally beautiful and compelling. In the last wedding invitation design I shared (Ali and Amanda’s wedding invitation) the style was simple, cool colours and inspired by art-deco design. The design I did for Shiva and Angela the style was textured, warm colours, and inspired by the tradition design in India. Very different but both very effective.
Shiva and Angela had 2 invitations that helped them with the logistics and different types of guests on their big day. Both invitations featured a floral texture that was deep red on one side and sandy brown on the other. The colour scheme inverted between the front and the back giving the invitation a dramatic look. Both cards featured maps to their respective locations and written out directions, both of which were created from scratch to match the style of the invitation.
Their first wedding invitation was a traditional Indian wedding card that was designed for people attending the ceremony. This with Indian traditions in mind, using script fonts, the couple’s full names, and integrating the Hindu god Ganesha.
The second wedding invitation was for guests that were attending the reception. This one followed the same style as the Indian wedding card, but had a more modern and casual approach to the language and typography. In this one, a nice treatment of “Angie & Shiva” was created for the bride and groom to be.
